Description:
Come join us for the 5th Annual Excelsior District Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration - Jerry Day 2007!
Presented by the Excelsior Cultural Group and San Francisco Parks Trust, this event will honor the life, art, and music of Jerry Garcia and raise awareness for his childhood neighborhood, the Excelsior District. This Free annual event is held at the wonderful Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, which is just a few blocks from his childhood home. Featured at this year's event will be Melvin Seals and the JGB Band. Melvin, who played with Jerry for 15 years in the Jerry Garcia Band, also grew up near the Amphitheater. When he's not traveling, he usually plays at some of the local neighborhood churches. Also featured on the bill is Workingman's Ed and Jelly.
The event starts at 12noon and ends at 6pm.

40 Year Anniversary of the Summer of Love

Jerry Garcia Amphitheater is located in McLaren Park, San Francisco. The Amphitheater borders the Excelsior and Bayview Districts.

Jerry Garcia grew up in the Excelsior District. Melvin Seals grew up and still resides in the Bayview District.
Jerry Garcia and Melvin Seals played together for 15 years in the Jerry Garcia Band.

52 Excelsior Bus

Hi All,

Has anyone heard about the possible rerouting of the 52 Muni line? I've heard some people say that the bus will go as far as Luther Burbank Middle School? Obviously, it won't hurt the Diamond Heights side, what gives?

I'm part of FatChanceBellyDance, and I wanted to let y'all know that we are performing at the Excelsior supper club the 2nd and 4th wednesdays of the month, at 8:15 pm.

There's food, a full bar, hookahs, and no cover! They also often have live music.

There will be approximately 10-15 amatuer bouts. A very lively, safe, professional, and positive atmosphere is quaranteed. The event is being put together by people who have deep roots in the Excelsior and The Mission.

The promoters have produced numerous fight nights throughout the city. This will be there 2nd event in the Excelsior. The first one (held last February) honored Pat Valentino, a heavyweight legend from the Excelsior. The event was completely sold out. They expect this event to sell out as well.

Only 250 tickets will be avaiable for this event.

Tickets are $20.

They could be purchased at the Excelsior Supper Club on November 10, 2004. Between 6 and 8.

If you can't make it to the club during that time feel free to call or email me for the tickets.

Has anyone gone to the Jerry Day celebration in MacLaren Park?
On Jerry Garcia's birthday, there's an open concert at the amphitheater, free for everyone to enjoy.

Cable Car Pizza/Bienvenuti Italian restaurant and Japan Home Furniture opened their doors last weekend, just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.

The interior of the new italian restaurant(formerly Ted's Sports Bar) looks amazing. New hardwood floors, new bar area, booths and painted murals on the wall reflect an old world feel perfect for fine Italian dining. For the grand opening they are offering a 30% off discount.

Also just opened is the IKEA-like home decor and Japanese accesory store Japan Home Furniture. New Italian place??

I saw a place on Mission out by Onandaga today that looked like an Italian bistro named "Bienvenuti" , or something like that. Has anyone been there? There's a new-ish coffee place too. It used to be the 33 Flavors on MIssion near Excelsior. Good coffee, great pastries, really nice people working there.
